17 April 2010, 2:12am

Australians are eligble to vote in the British General Election as Commonwealth citizens and are being encouraged to vote Labour by the Australian Labor Party.

All Australians are elible to vote as Commonwealth Citizens and must be registered to vote by Tuesday 20th. You can register to vote at www.aboutmyvote.co.uk

Ray Collins, the General Secretary of the British Labour Party has written to the Australian Labor Party asking for our support in the letter reproduced below.

The coming election represents a big choice about who is best for Britain’s future. That choice is as important for British citizens living abroad as it is for those living in the UK.

Labour’s message is simple; we have a plan for Britain which is substantial, costed and practical. A plan built on the principle of fairness.  Labour’s record is one to be proud of - new schools, new hospitals, more teachers, more doctors, more nurses and more police in every community

The choice is clear. Labour is not talking about an age of austerity over the next decade. We’re looking to the future, and pushing ahead with the big decisions that need to be taken to take advantage of the opportunities on offer. Building on what we have achieved and making a better Britain with a future fair for all.

If you know Brits living in Australia or Australians living in the UK please remind them to use their vote.

Thank you

Ray Collins
